Deliverables

BRIEF:
The Brief for this project was to create a poster for a social at my local touch rugby club, encouraging people to dress up and make food for the event.

HOW I MADE IT:
To start this project I began by collecting my assets. Most of them I got from Google images, however some elements like branding and the hero image I got from the client. After collecting my assets I began laying them around the canvas, using wood textures along with some bevel to create the signs that would hold the details of the event. With the core composition for the poster done, it was time to blend my assets together to make them look like one image rather than a collage of separate ones. To do this I mainly used exposure masks to create some highlights and shadows on all of the assets, before adding a black and orange gradient map to the entire canvas. Doing this helped a lot in creating some nice
visual continuity, while adding to the overall Halloween aesthetic of the poster.

Once the core imagery was finished, it was time to create the Typography for the poster. Starting with the main logo / title of the event I used a detailed spooky font given to me by the client. After that I used some bevel, color overlays and glow to make the title bounce of the page and attract viewers. Moving onto the detail text, I began by finding a font that would make the text look like it had be sprayed onto the signs. After that I copy and pasted the
details given to me by the client, before using some layer effects to make the text blend in with the texture of the signs.
Finally, I messed around with the composition of all of the elements until I was happy. I also want to add that this description is a brief summary of the project and not a detailed step by step tutorial, as there were a lot of extra things I did throughout the project that I can’t cover without making this description thousands of words long.
