Process

BRIEF:
The brief for this project was to create a Christmas poster for my school’s weekly news letter, getting people into the Christmas spirit.
HOW I MADE IT:
I began this project by gathering some assets from google images, making sure to find a background with a close focal point and strong bokeh. Doing this helps a lot in creating a cozy and dreamy visual tone. After the assets were found I began organizing them around the canvas to create a clean and visually appealing composition. With the assets laid out, I began blending them together. To do this I started by randomly erasing some of the bottom of the snow globe and presents to make them look like they were actually sitting within the snow. I then used some exposure layers to add some shadows and highlights to the assets, really focusing on where the light sources were coming from.
Finally, I used some particle overlay images to add to the dreamy nature of the image, before applying a Camera Raw filter to the image to bring out some saturation and texture.
I also want to add that this description is a brief summary of the project and not a detailed step by step tutorial, as there were a lot of extra things I did throughout the project that I can’t cover without making this description thousands of words long.
