Deliverables

BRIEF:
The brief for this project was to make a full scale environment scene within Unreal Engine 5, inspired by a time period. This could be in the far future after the world had blown to shreds or the distant past. With the goal being to become familiar with Unreal Engine 5 as part of the 3D creative workflow.

HOW I MADE IT:
I began by selecting my time period, this immediately being the Anglo Saxon era, as I love the medieval aesthetic. I then did some research on the time period noting down how I could visually reflect it in my environment. After that I had to pick a setting for the time period, for this I picked an old cozy pub. With my idea now set, I began by making a sketch of what the pub could look like using Adobe Photoshop. After that I moved into Auto Desk Maya where I began modelling; some building pieces like walls, windows and doorframes that I could copy and paste to create the building itself. Along with a bar, fireplace, some shelves and my hero assets, a reaper scythe and shield. Because I wanted my pub to feature a subtle undead theme.

To finish the piece, I used a simple triangle shape that I colored orange and then lowered the opacity of, before adding some glow and gaussian blur to make the abduction beam. Finally, I used a Camera Raw filter to boost the saturation and clarity of the design to make it pop.
I also want to add that this description is a brief summary of the project and not a detailed step by step tutorial, as there were a lot of extra things I did throughout the project that I can’t cover without making this description thousands of words long.
